Candidates For Governor Cast Ballots In Home Towns

Incumbent Democrat Steve Bullock and Republican challenger Greg Gianforte are hosting watch parties tonight in their home towns, waiting to see who Montana voters will select as the next governor. Corin Cates-Carney brings us this special election reports

TRANSCRIPT

CORIN CATES-CARNEY: During the last hours of their campaigns yesterday Bullock and Gianforte made their final pitches.Bullock says his administration is doing good work for Montana, and Greg Gianforte is an outsider trying to buy the election.

DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR STEVE BULLOCK: This election really is about if we are going to take our state forward or if we’re going to go back 100 years.”

CORIN CATES-CARNEY: Gianforte says he’ll bring higher wage jobs to Montana, and says he’s traveled over

REPUBLICAN GREG GIANFORTE: It’s been a joy traveling this state and we look forward to getting to work.

CORIN CATES-CARNEY: Bullock voted in Helena this morning. Gianforte voted in Bozeman. And both candidates are gathering supporters in hotel event centers to watch the election results come in. Polls close at 8 p.m. In Helena, I’m Corin Cates-Carney, Montana Public Radio.
