A Grammy Award-winning contemporary music chamber ensemble will drive into Big Sky, Montana next week to perform.
One of the composers Chicago-based Eighth Blackbird will play is Viet Cuong.
Eighth Blackbird violinist, Yvonne Lam, said they met Cuong at a mentoring program they call the Blackbird Creative Lab.
“He wrote a piece that we loved so much that we asked him to write a version of it for us,” she said. “Part of our mission is to move music forward, and that is a combination of just really high quality performance and commissioning works and finding different and innovative ways of presenting works.”
Eighth Blackbird will play at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center in Big Sky Montana on January 19.
