Over the last few decades Buddhism and Mindfulness have emerged as verifiable tools and philosophies to help individuals struggling with addiction develop and sustain a path of recovery. Whether integrated into 12-Step work, or standing on their own, Buddhism has emerged to meet the demands of addiction recovery here in the modern era. Within Buddhist practice strong emphasis is placed on both wisdom and compassion as a means for overcoming addiction and its causes. Those struggling with any form of addiction greatly benefit when they are able to understand the suffering that addiction has created while developing compassion for the pain they have experienced. Visiting teacher and addiction recovery specialist, Dave Smith, outlines and discusses the practice of Mindfulness and the process of the Dharma as a means for overcoming all forms of addiction. This workshop is not exclusive to those in recovery and can be beneficial to anyone. No prior experience in meditation needed.
