The Salvation Army of Billings is hosting a free Emergency Disaster Services Training on Saturday, June 15th from 10am-4pm. BILLINGS, MT., June 3, 2019…The Salvation Army of Billings, MT invites community to emergency disaster training event. On Saturday, June 15th from 10am-4pm, at 2100 6th Avenue North, The Salvation Army of Billings will be hosting a free Disaster Services and Canteen Operations training. Free lunch will be provided. This training will equip volunteers to run the Canteen during disasters. Ian Anderson will be coming from Denver, Colorado to teach. Ian is the Director of Emergency Services for The Salvation Army Intermountain Division servicing disasters in CO, UT, WY and MT. Ian has served during major disasters such as the earthquakes in Haiti in 2010 and Hurricane Sandy. The Canteen in Billings will likely serve food to first responders and victims of fires across the state as well as any other disasters that arise. This is the first free training that will be offered to the community. A free Food Handlers course will be announced in the coming weeks. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, high energy, mentally resilient under pressure, able to work with diverse populations, reliable, professional, hardworking, and able to stand for hours at a time.
