56 Counties: Fallon County

courtesy Kathy and Jerry Sikorski

Jerry and Kathy Sikorski live on the ranch in Fallon County where Jerry grew up, halfway between Baker and Ekalaka. Jerry was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and when he moved back to the ranch after his tour, he met Kathy and they took over the ranch. The Sikorskis have been innovators in the field of no-till farming and raising cover crops and were featured in the book Lentil Underground, which came out a few years ago. They recently donated thousands of pounds of their black lentils to organizations that are providing food for the needy during the corona virus epidemic.
