The National Park Service turns 100 tomorrow. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will visit Glacier and Yellowstone Parks to wish them happy birthday.
Secretary Jewell will tour Glacier National Park in the morning to see firsthand how climate change is affecting the park’s glaciers and resources.
From there, Jewell will head to Yellowstone to kick off the National Park Service’s Centennial Celebrations, which include free admission to all 413 national parks over the weekend.
Evening activities in Glacier include a photography meet-up and commemorative group photo to be taken at 7:00 p.m. in Apgar Village.
Glacier Park spokesperson Tim Rains:
"I think for all the visitors that are coming out to Find Your Park, I challenge them to take 100 seconds and reflect on why they're coming to Glacier and how they're going to take part in the next 100 years. The 100 second challenge. Hashtag it."
Senator Steve Daines will attend the Instameet and Gracie, Glacier’s canine Bark Ranger, will be on hand for photos. Senator Jon Tester will attend the Yellowstone Centennial Celebration in Gardner.
