Two more Montana Democrats are entering the party’s primary to challenge Republican Steve Daines in the 2020 U.S. Senate race.
Cora Neumann of Bozeman announced her candidacy Tuesday morning in a video.
“I’m running for U.S. Senate because when we come together we have the power to build a better future for all of our families,” Neumann said.
Nuemann says she’s focused on affordable and accessible health care, meaning protecting the Affordable Care Act. She says her campaign priorities also include protecting public lands, removing corporate special interests from politics and job creation.
In her campaign announcement, Neumann criticized Daines’ support for the 2017 federal tax changes.
Neumann holds a doctoral degree in international development from the University of Oxford and a masters in public health from Columbia University.
More than a decade ago she founded Global First Ladies Alliance, working to help first ladies around the world advance policy change.
Another Bozemanite, Michael Knoles, has also filed paperwork to run for the U.S. Senate. But he has not yet publicly announced his campaign.
The other Democrats in the race include Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins and John Mues, a Navy veteran and engineer from Loma.
