Red Flag Warning For Most Of Montana

Sep 4, 2019

Large swaths of Montana and Wyoming are facing critical fire danger today.

The National Weather Service has a red flag warning until 9 P.M. for a large section of Montana from the north-central portion of the state along the border with Canada, through central, southwest and south-central Montana to the border with Wyoming. And a large band of Wyoming has a red flag warning through tonight from the northern border with Montana, through central Wyoming to the southern border with Colorado.

A red flag warning means today’s near record high temperatures, low relative humidity, strong, gusty winds and wind shifts will likely create critical fire weather conditions and erratic fire behavior.

Nearly half of Montana’s 56 counties have some type of burn ban in place until further notice.
