The National Weather Service is predicting the heaviest snow will fall Wednesday morning, just in time for the morning commute and when children will be heading off to school.

The countdown has begun to a blast of snow, cold temperatures and strong winds coming out of Alberta headed for Montana and northern Wyoming. Warm, sunny weather will linger for another day before the snowfall.

Unseasonably cold and wet weather is set to pummel Montana this weekend. The cold snap’s widespread impacts could possibly affect power lines, livestock and backcountry travelers. The next several days will make it feel like we bypassed autumn altogether and went straight to winter.
