Montana COVID-19 Nursing Home Death Rate Ranks Second In The Nation

Nursing Home Resident COVID-19 Deaths Per 100 Residents for the four weeks ending 11-15-20

Montana has been identified as a state that has seen one of the highest rates of death due to COVID-19 in nursing homes, according to a report from AARP

Montana is listed second to South Dakota, and Wyoming is listed third, for most deaths per 100 residents in nursing homes. In Montana, 3.12 residents per 100 died from COVID-19 between mid-October and mid-November. South Dakota saw 4.82 residents die per 100. 

The most recent analysis from the Montana health department found that 260 people who have died from COVID-19 contracted the virus from congregate settings. Long-term care and assisted living facilities account for 97 percent of those deaths.
