Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks wardens are seeking information on a poached elk found near Ennis last week.

Game wardens believe the bull elk died the night of March 18. The elk was found the next morning along US Highway 287, 20 miles south of Ennis, about 50 yards west of the highway. The animal’s head was removed and the meat was left to waste.

The bull is the most recent in a string of poaching and meat wasting cases this year. Anyone with information on this incident or any other wildlife crimes is asked to call 1-800-TIP-MONT. Informants can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a monetary reward.
