Montana’s electric utility regulators are hiring their first executive director in response to a state financial audit released in May that found evidence of mishandled funds.
The Montana Public Service Commission Monday announced former Montana school administrator Erik Wilkerson will join PSC staff as executive director.
The former Townsend superintendent Wilkerson spent roughly 25 years in education as a teacher, coach and administrator, according to a PSC press release. His new job at the Department of Public Service Regulation will include overseeing day-to-day operations and public affairs.
The position is a new one for the Public Service Commission. Its creation was one of the PSC’s responses to a state audit in May that uncovered mishandled funds, undocumented spendings and earnings and other failures to follow state financial policy.
