State Sen. and Republican gubernatorial candidate Albert Olszewski picked a running mate yesterday for his bid to win the party’s nomination in 2020. Olszewski is tapping fellow state Senator Republican Kenneth Bogner of Miles City.

The campaign reported the announcement in a Facebook video.

"I need somebody who's gonna watch my back. I need someone who's my wingman," Olszewski said.

Both Olszewski and Bogner are military veterans and they sat on the legislative Senate Finance and Claims Committee in the 2019 session. 2019 was Bogner’s freshman year in the Senate.

Olszewski is the first candidate for governor, in any party, to announce a running mate for 2020.

Olszewski faces Attorney General Tim Fox and Rep. Greg Gianforte in the Republican primary for the governor’s race. Olszewski has raised significantly less money than the other two primary candidates.

Campaigns are expected to file updated finance reports over the weekend.
