Can Home Pulse Oximeters Improve COVID-19 Outcomes?

Some emergency room doctors and respiratory care experts are noting a strange phenomenon among some COVID-19 patients: They don’t show signs of respiratory distress despite severely compromised lungs and advanced pneumonia.

That caused one ER doctor to recommend that people use pulse oximeters at home during the early stages of illness to monitor their oxygen levels. Others, including the American Lung Association, are not recommending the devices for home use.
