Grand Teton National Park had a record year in 2021.

The parksays it hosted nearly 3.9 million recreation visits last year, an 11% increase over 2018, the previous record year.

Park officials say Grand Teton surpassed the 2018 record in September 2021.

The record-breaking year also had 6 months that set records, including July 2021, the busiest month ever in Grand Teton with more than 800-thousand recreation visits.

"Ensuring that Americans have the opportunity to enjoy their national parks is a key part of the National Park Service mission and it is clear that people are enjoying Grand Teton National Park at unprecedented levels and in new ways,” Grand Teton National Park Superintendent Chip Jenkins said in a statement.
