Montana has joined a lawsuit with nine other states suing the U.S. government over President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate for federal contract workers.
Montana Attorney General Austin Kndusen and other state attorneys general argue the mandate is sweeping in its scope and assumes areas of state power.
The Biden administration has argued the mandates will prevent deaths from COVID-19 and will help end the pandemic. The mandate for contractors includes medical or religious exemptions.
The lawsuit was filed in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Montana Nurses Association joins vaccine lawsuit
The Montana Nurses Association has filed to join a lawsuit against a state law that bans most employers from requiring employees get vaccinated.
The lawsuit was originally filed in September by the Montana Medical Association and a group of health care providers.
Nurses Association CEO Vicky Bryd, said in a statement that the new law passed by the 2021 Montana Legislature compromises the safety of patients and health care providers.
Attorney General Austin Knudsen has said he will continue to fight against the lawsuit and that the law prevents discrimination based on vaccine status.
