Montana Cities Lift Water Restrictions

Recent rainfall and early conservation efforts have replenished water supplies in several Montana cities, leading officials to repeal restrictions on water use.

Helena, Bozeman and Billings have all lifted water-use restrictions for residents and businesses. The city of Polson is keeping irrigation restrictions in place, but was able to rescind its water emergency designation earlier this month.

Cities tightened water use rules earlier than normal this summer amid severe drought statewide and abnormally hot temperatures.

According to officials in Helena, Bozeman, Billings and Polson, those conservation efforts worked. The cities report they’ve avoided running out of water supply.
