Victor Wooten is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished bass guitarists of his generation; he’s been named among the "Top 10 Bassists of All Time" by readers ofRolling Stonemagazine. Wooten, who has released ten solo recordings, is a co-founder of the long-standing ‘blu-bop’ band, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. His sought-after skills have lead to recordings and performances with Chick Corea, The Dave Matthews Band, Bootsy Collins, Branford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Prince, India Arie, Keb Mo, Dennis Chambers, Susan Tedeschi, Gov't Mule, Bruce Hornsby, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Frank Gambale, the legendary Moroccan group Nass El Ghiwane, and many others.
Musician, composer, record producer, workshop teacher, novelist, magician, naturalist and tracker, father of four and recipient of five Grammy Awards Victor Wooten swung by Montana Public Radio on Martin Luther King Day to talk about his annual “Music/Nature” camps outside Nashville, his debut as a five-year-old bass player with his four brothers - all of whom, like him, are musicians - and his most recent recording, “Trypnotyx.”
