MSU Billings Chancellor Stepping Down

University Relations, MSUB
MSUB Chancellor Dan Edelman

Montana State University Billings Chancellor Dan Edelman is stepping down effective Aug. 4.

The chancellor sent out an email on July 23 announcing his departure because of a recent serious medical condition.

Edelman said in his release, ”I am deeply saddened to leave MSUB under these circumstances. We have accomplished a lot since I came on board, but I look forward to seeing the university continue to grow.”

Montana State University President Waded Cruzado, who provides administrative oversight to MSUB, praised Edelman for his vision and concern for students.

Edelman has been chancellor since April 2018, leading a successful fundraising campaign for the Yellowstone Science and Allied Health Building.

A transition plan for the chancellor’s position will be developed by the Montana Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education, in coordination with MSU.

Before coming to MSUB, Edelman served as executive vice president of administration and chief financial officer of the University of North Texas at Dallas.

Classes for MSUB’s fall semester begin Aug. 19.
