Bozeman Health said Thursday it’s looking to enroll several hundred Montanans in a global study to test a potential vaccine for COVID-19.

The non-profit healthcare organization in Bozeman is one of more than 120 sites around the world carrying out late-phase clinical trials of a new RNA vaccine. It’s developers, pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and BioNTech, a German biotech company, are leading the study, which will need up to 30,000 participants.

A press release said Bozeman Health’s clinical research department has started to enroll Montanans in the clinical trial. Non-pregnant adults between 18 and 85 years of age interested in participating will complete an Informed Consent and screening procedures to meet eligibility standards.

Roughly half of the participants will receive a placebo.

People interested in participating in the study can visit CovidVaccineStudy.com or call 406-414-4475 to find out more.

This is not the first time Bozeman Health has worked with Pfizer on a vaccine trial. A spokesperson said the healthcare organization has complete confidence in the safety and integrity with which Pfizer approaches its research efforts.
