On Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 7:00 pm, Elk River Arts & Lectures will host Mammoth-based environmental journalist Lisa Baril as part of their ongoing Arts & Lecture Series. The event will take place at Elk River Books, 122 S 2nd Street in Livingston. It is free and open to the public.
Baril will be reading from her recent book The Age of Melt: What Glaciers, Ice Mummies, and Ancient Artifacts Teach Us about Climate, Culture, and a Future Without Ice. Described as an entertaining pop-sci narrative investigating ice patch archaeology and the role of glaciers in the development of human culture, Baril’s book explores the deep-rooted cultural connection between humans and ice through time.
This event is sponsored by Elk River Arts & Lectures, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating and celebrating the literary arts in Park County.
