The primary races are set for Montana’s two congressional seats.

In the 1st Congressional District in western Montana, Mitch Heuer, Matt Jette, Al Olszewski, Mary Todd and Ryan Zinke are running for the Republican nomination.

Monica Tranel, Cora Neumann and Tom Winter are seeking the Democratic nomination.

Libertarian John Lamb is also running but has no primary opponent.

In the eastern 2nd Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Matt Rosendale will face Kyle Austin, James Boyette and Charles Walkingchild for the Republican nomination.

Penny Ronning, Mark Sweeney and Skylar Williams are seeking the Democratic nomination. And three Libertarians, Sam Rankin, Roger Roots, and Samuel Thomas, will be on the June ballot.

Gary Buchanan is running for the seat as an Independent.

This is the first time since 1990 that Montanans will have two representatives in Congress. The state gained a congressional district after the last census.

In total, the Montana Secretary of State’s office says more than 300 candidates filed to run in this year’s state, federal and district elections. Montana Public Radio reports about two dozen legislative races will feature an unchallenged Republican candidate and no Democratic opponent.

The primary election is on June 7. Voters have until noon the day before to register.
