Montana’s U.S. Senators have signed onto a resolution in support of Minor League Baseball.

Major League Baseball announced a plan to eliminate 40-some minor league franchises across the country late last year, including the Pioneer League that hosts three Montana teams in Billings, Missoula and Great Falls.

The Senate resolution encourages the MLB to keep the minor league clubs on the field due to their popularity and economic contributions to local communities.

Congressman Greg Gianforte signed a related bill in the U.S. House in January.

Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines say they’ve received commitment from the MLB to visit Montana to hear from minor league fans soon.
