Officials Investigating Fatal Plane Crash South Of Billings

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating a fatal plane crash Sunday night south of Billings.

A news release from the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office reports emergency personnel responded to the crash of a single-engine aircraft south of Billings near Jellison and Stratton roads.

The crash was around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Emergency responders found the aircraft on fire in a wooded area.

Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder reports two people died at the scene and one person was taken to a local hospital. Linder reports the deceased are Rob and Pam Stephens and their son Riley is hospitalized.

The sheriff says his deputies secured the crash site until the FAA and NTSB could take over the investigation.
