Montana’s Department of Environmental Quality approved a ski resort in Big Sky to use treated wastewater for snowmaking.

Recent snowfall has snowmobilers and backcountry skiers celebrating the recreational opportunities. With recreation comes risk and in southwest Montana the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center works non-stop assessing that risk.

Although winter hasn't officially begun, some early season snowfall has ski resorts across the state opening their lifts.
