Robertson Draw and Crooked Creek Fires
Fire crews are gaining ground in the effort to contain the Robertson Draw and Crooked Creek fires burning in the Custer Gallatin National Forest in south central Montana.
According to InciWeb, firefighters over the weekend hit 65% containment on the Robertson Draw fire just south of Red Lodge. The 30,000-acre fire is holding steady in size, and firefighters are monitoring and cleaning up burning material along the southern and eastern sides of the fire. Evacuation warnings remain in effect for the area south of Red Lodge and east of the Beartooth Highway.
The 4,000-acre Crooked Creek fire east of Bridger in the Pryor Mountains reached 72% containment this weekend, according to InciWeb — up from 25% Friday. InciWeb says fire crews are preparing to intentionally burn a small area on the eastern side of the fire and people can expect to see smoke near the Pryor Mountains.
There is also a pre-evacuation warning notice for 25 homes in the Sage Creek area.
