Vice President Mike Pence flew into Montana Monday afternoon to stump for GOP candidates seeking election to high-profile offices.
Speaking to several hundred supporters at an outdoor venue near Belgrade, Pence touted President Donald Trump’s efforts to cut regulations, boost military spending and nominate conservative federal judges.
Pointing to several sheriffs in attendance, Pence also expressed support for law enforcement as protests for racial equality carry on across the U.S.
The vice president said further progress on conservative policies, like new tax cuts, requires holding onto power in Congress.
“I’m here to tell you, right after you make sure we send President Trump back to the White House for four more years, we got to make sure we keep a Republican majority in the United States Senate and we send Steve Daines back to the Senate for six more years," Pence said.
Sen. Steve Daines attended the rally, along with U.S. Congressman Greg Gianforte, who’s seeking the governor’s office, and state Auditor Matt Rosendale, who’s trying to replace Gianforte in the House of Representatives.
Though chairs were grouped away from each other in the audience, it didn’t appear social distancing was maintained at all times. Most attendees didn’t wear masks.
