MSUB Chancellor Speaks On Future Campus Goals

Kayla Desroches / YPR

Montana State University Billings’ new chancellor, Dan Edelman, joined MSUB in April of last year. On campus Thursday, he presented on the college’s strategic plan and its objectives. It’s the first of two meetings addressing the plan this month and next.

In an interview with Yellowstone Public Radio, Edelman said one major goal is to build enrollment, and the strategic plan will help drive that forward.

“We just want to articulate here’s what we’re gonna be doing,” said Edelman. “And, equally important is, I want to make sure that we some measurements as well. If I say we’re gonna increase enrollment to 6,000, I need to be held accountable that I’m at 6,000 in five years.”

According to MSUB, there are approximately 4,300 students at the college, and MSUB saw an improvement in retention this year.

MSUB is also working on how to attract new students.

Edelman said the college will shortly announce waivers for out-of-state and international students.

The chancellor is slated to present again, this time on the details of the strategic plan, in March.
