Montana Senator Jon Tester will hold a public town hall in Livingston Friday morning.

Tester’s sixth town hall of the year will take place at 10 A.M. Friday at the Shane Center in Livingston.

A press release says he will provide updates and answer questions about protecting public lands, legislation to curb farmer suicides and ongoing efforts to ensure veterans receive benefits and other services.

Tester’s last town hall was earlier this month in Billings.

Town halls have become a contentious issue in recent years as voters demand access to their representatives in Congress. While Tester has held several in person, his Republican colleagues, Senator Steve Daines and Congressman Greg Gianforte, often hold them on the phone.

Daines and Gianforte say this allows them to hear from more people in a very large state.

Daines has had five tele-town halls this year. A spokesperson says the office is “currently working on locking down dates” for more.

A spokesperson for Gianforte says he had seven state-wide town halls in 2019 and plans to hold at least three more by the end of the year.
