Livingston resident Tom Murphy is a talented naturalist and photographer who has traveled the United States presenting the wonders of nature captured in photographic slide shows.

His latest book, Birds: Masters of the Air, Land & Water, published by Crystal Creek Press in Livingston, features decades of Tom’s photography of birds from around the world.

Tom has traveled the world as a photographer, outdoorsman, and explorer.

His book includes a variety of species, from east African to the Yellowstone backcountry. In addition, there are close-up shots of feet, beaks, feathers, and wings highlighting the variety of bird coloration and plumed finery.

The 200-page book is a giant, clocking in at 11.5-inches wide by 13-inches long and an inch thick. Proceeds from the sale of the book benefit raptor conservation and wildlife research in Yellowstone National Park.

Tom serves on the board of the Yellowstone Park Foundation and the Park County Environmental Council. Tom donates his work to conservation organizations to help in preserving wildlife and wild land. Much of the photography in the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center in Yellowstone Park was donated by Tom for educational use by the National Park Service.

Tom Murphy is featured in the PBS Nature film Christmas in Yellowstone, which has been aired worldwide. He has produced seven books including Silence & Solitude and Seasons of Yellowstone, a four-volume set.
