Scholarships Available For Montana Families With Unique Childcare Needs

Montana families with unique circumstances during the coronavirus pandemic can now apply for scholarships to offset the costs of in-home childcare.

For some families in the high risk group for COVID-19, sending kids to in person school isn’t an option this year. For others, remote learning fails to adequately support kids with developmental or physical disabilities.

Families in these and other unique situations can apply for scholarships worth $4,000 through Child Care Resource and Referral agencies across the state.

The scholarships are intended to offset the cost of alternative child care in home or at the home of another family member. They’ll be awarded on a first come, first serve basis until the end of the year.

Funding for the scholarship program is part of a larger $50 million the state earmarked last week to expand child care in Montana using federal coronavirus relief money.
