Yufna Soldier Wolf Lecture: "Boarding School Survivors Experience in Repatriations-Breaking the Silence."
Yufna Soldier Wolf was born and raised on the Wind River Reservation in central Wyoming and is a citizen of the Northern Arapaho Tribe. Yufna Soldier Wolf’s parents were both boarding school survivors. Her grandparents were the first generation to be sent to the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. Soldier Wolf’s extensive research examines her genealogy and history of the Arapaho people. The research began at Montana State University. She explores memories of relatives visiting, talking, and crying about their boarding school traumas and experiences. The lecture will share the experience of healing and moving forward as tribal people.
Yufna Soldier Wolf's Arapaho name means Mother Nature’s Child. Her heart and passion is for preservation of tribal ways and customs, which includes protecting the land and her ancestors. Yufna has received various degrees, accolades, and certificates from Montana State University, and the University of Wyoming. She recently completed her Indigenous People's Law Degree Program from Norman, Oklahoma. Formerly, she served as the Northern Arapaho’s tribal historic preservation officer. Her passion is for the preservation of tribal ways and customs, including protecting the land and her ancestors. 6:30pm at MSU Billings College Library room 148.
