The number of Montanans who have tested positive for influenza this year continues to grow following last year’s nonexistent flu season.
The Montana Department of Health and Human Services reported the state’s first case in late October. As of Friday, the agency says more than 100 people have tested positive for the virus.
Yellowstone County confirmed its first case of the flu earlier this month, and the Phillips County Health Department announced its first cases on Monday.
No cases of the flu were reported in the 2020 to 2021 season. That’s compared to the previous flu season, which saw more than 11,000 cases, 500 hospitalizations and 40 deaths.
