Billings author Danell Jones spent seven years researching and writing about a Sierra Leonean writer and barrister who is the subject of her latest book, An African in Imperial London: The Indomitable Life of A.B.C. Merriman-Labor. During her research, Jones connected with Merriman-Labor's great nephew, Melbourne Garber, who joined Jones in the studio to discuss Merriman-Labor’s life and what the two discovered in their connections.
Jones went on to win the Nonfiction category of the 2019 High Plains Book Awards for An African in Imperial London: The Indomitable Life of A.B.C. Merriman-Labor. Jones was previously featured on Resounds with her husband, Tim Lehman. Additional authors featured on Resounds who picked up 2019 High Plains Book Awards include Rodney Gottula and Susan Henderson.
The High Plains Book Awards were established to recognize regional authors and/or literary works that examine and reflect life on the High Plains. Nominations for the 2020 awards will be accepted beginning in January.
