President Joe Biden has declared the catastrophic flooding in Montana a major disaster following requests from the state’s governor and congressional delegation. Gov. Greg Gianforte has been traveling since late last week and was scheduled to return to Montana Thursday night.
President Biden described the move as a critical step to punishing Russian President Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine, but said as a result, Americans should prepare for price hikes at the pump.
As President Biden is set to make his first State of the Union speech, he and the country face pressing issues, from Russia's invasion of Ukraine to inflation and the continuing pandemic.
Biden didn't utter Trump's name but referred repeatedly to him with forceful, and at times personal, denunciations of his actions. "He's not just a former president. He's a defeated former president."
