A songwriter from a small Wyoming town hit it big at a recent international music awards ceremony. YPR’s Orlinda Worthington talked to him about his recent honor, his long songwriting career and how he’s making sure live music continues in his community.

The owners of Red’s Blue Goose Saloon had almost all of their live music events cancel after the flooding in June. They are currently looking for musicians to perform.

Cultural institutions including movie theaters and music venues were among the hardest hit by the pandemic. Nearly $16 billion in federal funding was made available to revive the cultural arts, but processing and receiving these awards has taken longer than expected.
