Montana and many other states in the northern U.S. have not updated their policies to keep young athletes safe from heatstroke amid rising temperatures.

Athletes in some 25 sports as varied as archery, basketball, cornhole, pickleball and track and field will compete in venues around Billings.

Winter sports fans in Montana and Wyoming have five “hometown” athletes to cheer for during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in February.
